MANILA (PNA) —- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is mounting a jobs fair for about 2,500 displaced workers and their dependents on Monday at the TESDA complex in Taguig City.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who relentlessly pushes for the creation of more jobs locally and in such traditional labor-receiving countries in the Middle East as Kuwait and Qatar, is scheduled to visit the whole-day fair, according to TESDA’s Susan dela Rama.
Several government agencies, private companies and sectoral groups are joining in the project, which aims at matching the training and skills of the out-of-work adults and their dependents who are expected at the event.
The President “would see for herself the delivery of employment and training services to laid-off workers,” said Dela Rama.
Local government units have been tapped to initiate jobs-placement schemes for their respective out-of-work residents. (PNA)
